Job role description for Room Leader:
- Lead and manage the room team, ensuring all staff members are supported, motivated, and working collaboratively to deliver high-quality care and education.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, tailored to meet the individual needs of children.
- Ensure the room environment is safe, clean, and fully compliant with health and safety regulations, conducting regular risk assessments and maintaining staff-to-child ratios.
- Establish strong partnerships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on their child’s development and addressing any concerns in a professional manner.
- Mentor and support team members, providing guidance on best practices and identifying opportunities for their continuous professional development.
- Represent the nursery professionally and attend staff meetings, training, and community events.
As a Room Leader you will have:
- A level 3 or above childcare qualification
- Experience leading or supervising a small team of nursery staff
- Strong planning and organizational abilities
- A passion for children’s education and care, and a commitment to inclusivity
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Enthusiasm to reflect on and constantly improve practice and to lead by example
- An ability to safeguard and protect children
- A flexible and can-do attitude – no two days are ever the same!
