How Do I work in a Nursery ?

What Can I Expect ?

Nurseries are interesting and unique places, they can be busy, noisy, fun and challenging. A typical day in a nursery is marked by a regular set of tasks and duties which change over the course of the weeks/months but on the main follow a routine working with the other staff. Also will have a groups of key worker children to keep up  to date with observations and the parents feed back.

Looking to Qualify With a Childcare Provider ?

Childcare Qualifications are usually offered on a part-time as well as full-time basis at colleges and universities (depending upon the level of the qualification being studied). It may be possible to gain a Nursery Nurse or Early Years Educator qualifications through an apprenticeship.

Offer childcare training whilst working a nursery setting. Known as a NVQ Level 2 and 3.  You will have a few days a week at a day nursery on placement and then have time to complete the coursework. This can be done mostly online or attending the college in person . The Course times vary but usually allow up to 18 months to complete.

Applicants for all College courses must declare any criminal convictions on their College application form and for some employment pathways, any future employer may need to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a record check.
